This gold Sovereign features the first portrait of Queen Victoria (aka, the Young Head) with St George and the dragon on the back, dated from 1871 to 1887. This is the first of three Victoria portraits, and the follow-up to the initial Victoria Sovereigns bearing the shield on the reverse rather than the iconic Pistrucci St George.
Please note: This coin is OUR choice of year. We have deliberately doctored the image of the coin reverse to not show a year to emphasise this point.
If you require a specific year Young Victoria gold sovereign coin please see our selection here.
