Gold Britannias are the most popular one ounce gold coin for larger UK based private investors, as they are Capital Gains Tax Free (CGT Exempt).
A British bullion gold coin first introduced in 1987 with a face value of £100.00. This coin contains one troy ounce (31.10 grams) of fine gold and like most Royal Mint gold coins up to 2012, is a 22ct gold coin. Later Britannia coins are 24ct, but also contain exactly 1 troy ounce of pure gold.
