A very rare 1937 Proof gold Half Sovereign from the reign of George VI with a mintage of only 5,501. This was the only year that George VI gold Half Sovereigns were minted. The coins were part of a four-coin gold Proof set (also known as a Specimen Set) released to celebrate the coronation of King George. It has a smooth edge rather than being milled.
The coin is graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) to PR63 GRADE : PR 63 SERIAL NUMBER: 206809.63 / 29875131. PCGS is one of the world's largest and most trusted third-party grading service for coins tokens and medals. Since being established in 1985, NGC has graded more than 42.5 million coins.
