Angel Gold Coins

The Angel was introduced in 1465 and remained in production until 1642. A high value coin, it ranged from six shillings and 8 pence, to eleven shillings in later years. The name was derived from the design of archangel Michael slaying a dragon. The Angel coin would later be replaced by the Guinea.
