2023 King Charles III Coronation Coin Range
On Saturday May 6th, 2023, King Charles III will officially be crowned following his accession to the throne in 2022. This momentous occasion will be marked with a series of proof coins from The Royal Mint.
The King Charles III Coronation proof coin range features a unique obverse design of His Majesty wearing the Tudor Crown. With a range of 50p, Crown, and Ounce coins, as well as a special 2023 Sovereign struck on the day of the coronation, there is something for all collectors to enjoy. Charles III Coronation 50p Coin
The 50p coin has a long tradition of marking key events in British history and culture, and this is continued with the coronation 50p coin. The reverse is designed by The Royal Mint's own Natasha Jenkins and features the architecture of Westminster Abbey, and the cypher for His Majesty, for a clean modern design that will certainly be a popular addition to the 50p family.
Charles III Coronation Crown Coin
The Coronation Crown coin reverse is designed by the renowned Timothy Noad, who has produced some of the most popular coins for The Royal Mint in recent years. The design focuses on the crown and regalia to be used during the ceremony, along with an inscription reading - 'THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III | 6 MAY 2023'.
Coronation Ounce Range
The ounce range offers a number of sizes and metals, ensuring something for collectors of all budgets. The reverse is designed by John Bergdahl, another experienced designer of coinage for The Royal Mint. The design features a detailed portrayal of a crowned shield of the Royal Arms, with His Majesty's cypher, and three interlocked C's on either side. It is also surrounded by an inscription reading - 'THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III | 6 MAY 2023'.
2023 Coronation SOTD Sovereign
A very special part of the coronation coin range will be the first 2023 Sovereign. A limited number of these coins will be struck on May 6th itself, for a truly special part of coinage history. Featuring the crowned portrait of His Majesty on the obverse, the reverse of the 2023 Coronation Sovereign returns to the classic George & Dragon design by Pistrucci.
